Construction Intern

Job Description

Location: Cleveland, OH
Reports To: Site Superintendent, Woda Construction Company
Compensation: $20/hour (No benefits)
Internship Type: Paid, Part-Time or Full-Time (based on assignment)

 

About the Opportunity

We are hiring Construction Interns for two transformative housing developments in Cleveland: Gordon Crossing and Gateway66. These internship positions offer young adults the chance to gain real-world construction experience on active job sites while learning from skilled professionals.  This opportunity is in partnership with Cleveland Job Corps to help prepare future tradespeople and build a pipeline for long-term workforce success in the construction industry.

Responsibilities

General Labor:

  • Keep job sites clean, safe, and organized

  • Load and unload tools, equipment, and materials

  • Maintain clean-up stations and designated work zones

  • Operate basic hand tools and small equipment under supervision

  • Follow safety protocols and participate in safety briefings

  • Assist trades and supervisors with staging, support tasks, and end-of-day cleanup

 

Trade-Specific Tasks (As Needed or Applicable):

  • Carpentry — assist with layout, framing, measuring, and installation

  • Electrical — support conduit runs, wire pulls, and site electrical prep

  • Plumbing — help with pipe support, fixture handling, and sealing

  • Masonry & Painting — assist with material mixing, surface prep, and finishing

  • Work under the guidance of licensed or experienced trades professionals

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Must arrive each day with personal protective equipment (PPE):

    • Hard hat

    • Steel-toe boots

  • Professional Expectations:

    • Arrive on time and ready to work

    • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, and work on their feet throughout the day

    • No cell phone use during working hours unless directed

    • Drug- and alcohol-free workplace — zero tolerance for working under the influence

    • Able to follow instructions, maintain focus, and contribute to a team

    • Demonstrate respect, safety awareness, and a willingness to grow
