For more than three decades, Najwa has been a trusted presence in some of life's most meaningful moments. As one of Texas's most respected ultrasound technicians, she has helped thousands of families welcome new beginnings while becoming known for something just as important as her medical expertise—her kindness.
Patients remember her smile before they remember her name.
But the woman who spent her life giving others confidence once struggled to find her own.
Growing up, Najwa worried about fitting in. Like many teenagers, she spent too much time trying to become the person she thought everyone else wanted her to be.
"I stressed myself out building a person that fit in with everyone else," she recalls. "Eventually, I realized that being myself was more important."
That realization became the turning point in her life. Her teenage years brought changing friendships, responsibilities, and moments of self-doubt. Volleyball taught her discipline and perseverance, while watching her brother and her mother navigate life's challenges taught her resilience.
One lesson stayed with her forever.
"My mom never gave up on herself or her kids."
Whenever Najwa felt like giving up, she thought about everything she still wanted to experience—a career she loved, a family of her own, and a future she hadn't yet lived.
"I kept thinking about everything I would miss if I gave up."
Years later, she built that future. As an ultrasound technician, Najwa became known for more than her medical knowledge. Expectant parents often arrived anxious but left remembering her calm reassurance, compassionate spirit, and genuine smile. She understood that kindness could be just as healing as clinical expertise.
Outside of work, she built a loving life with her husband, two children, and their family dog in Texas. Looking back, she says her greatest accomplishment wasn't her career—it was finally becoming comfortable with who she was.
Today, Najwa encourages young people to stop living for other people's expectations. Her advice is simple:
"Be proud of the battles you fight silently. Never give up. Give yourself permission to grow, make mistakes, and change your mind about who you want to be. Be patient with yourself. Your worth isn't determined by your mistakes, your relationships, or what other people think."
When asked what "Rising High" means to her, Najwa smiles.
"It means to keep going up...to keep rising until you can't rise anymore."
Friends, patients, and colleagues remember Najwa as loving, joyful, encouraging, and someone who never stopped growing. The young girl who once searched for acceptance became the woman thousands of families trusted during some of life's most precious moments.
For Najwa, success was never about becoming perfect.
It was about becoming the best version of herself—and helping others believe they could do the same.
