When people talk about Zymir, they often mention his positivity, determination, and ability to inspire others to keep going no matter the challenge. Whether through athletics, mentoring young people, or community leadership, Zymir became known as someone who believed success was earned through hard work, perseverance, and the willingness to keep improving.
The lesson that shaped his life was simple:
You only lose when you quit.
Growing up, Zymir loved sports and competition. Win or lose, he enjoyed the opportunity to learn, improve, and challenge himself. His parents encouraged him to work hard, stay positive, and never give up, lessons that became the foundation of everything he accomplished.
One lesson from his mother stayed with him throughout his life.
"Try your full potential."
That advice changed the way he viewed both winning and losing.
One of his toughest moments came during the 2024 basketball playoffs when his team was eliminated in the first round. Like his teammates, Zymir was disappointed. But instead of blaming others, he went home and reflected on what he could do better. He thought about improving his defense, encouraging his teammates, and preparing differently for the next opportunity.
He realized that every loss carried a lesson.
Rather than becoming discouraged, Zymir used setbacks as motivation. He learned that failure was never the end of the story. It was simply another opportunity to grow. That mindset helped him become both a better athlete and a better teammate.
After winning a Recreation Championship in 2023, Zymir recognized that championships are earned long before the final game. They are built through discipline, encouragement, and refusing to let setbacks define you. He became known for motivating his teammates, reminding them to keep believing in themselves even after difficult losses.
As his success grew, Zymir wanted to give back to the next generation. He volunteered with youth sports programs, encouraging young athletes to stay focused, work hard, and never let one mistake define them. He also led by example, choosing to stay away from violence, drugs, and negative influences while encouraging others to make choices that would lead to a brighter future.
At home, Zymir built a life centered on family, respect, and encouragement. He wanted the people around him to feel supported, valued, and motivated to become the best version of themselves.
Looking back, Zymir hopes people remember him not only as a champion, but as someone who helped others believe they could become champions too. His story reminds us that success is not about avoiding failure. It is about learning from it, growing through it, and refusing to let it stop you.
