“Born to Care”: On Her 39th Birthday, Dior Opens Cleveland Hospital Bringing Loving Care to Seniors
CLEVELAND, OH — On her 39th birthday, Dior is celebrating more than just another year of life — she’s celebrating the grand opening of her very own hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. This hospital isn’t just any facility — it’s built with a mission to give senior citizens the love, dignity, and attention they deserve.
Dior’s journey began in a Cleveland Freedom Project classroom when she was just a young girl participating in their summer leadership program. During one of the workshops, a mentor asked, “What do you see yourself doing in the future?” Without hesitation, Dior raised her hand and declared, “I want to open a hospital and take care of senior citizens.” While some of her peers chuckled in disbelief, Dior never forgot what her mentor said that day: “Don’t ever let anyone talk you out of your dreams.”
That encouragement stuck with her. Dior had always been deeply troubled by how many elders in senior facilities felt forgotten, lonely, or unloved. “They deserve better,” she remembered thinking. That thought became a lifelong mission — and today, it’s a reality.
Her new hospital, Howell Healing Center, is designed to feel more like home than a hospital. From the warmth of the staff to the inviting common rooms filled with music and sunlight, every part of the hospital reflects Dior’s vision for loving care. “This isn’t just about medicine,” Dior shared. “It’s about reminding people that they matter, that they’re still loved, still seen, and still valued.”
Dior is a proud graduate of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and a former participant in the Cleveland Freedom Project, where she first began visualizing her dream during summer leadership programming. “The Freedom Project helped me believe that my story mattered and that my dreams were possible — even if other people didn’t see it yet,” she said.
Today, Dior is being celebrated not just for what she’s built, but for who she is: a woman of compassion, resilience, and purpose. Her hospital has already received national attention for its senior-first approach to care, and she’s planning to expand to more cities in the coming years.
On this birthday, surrounded by patients, family, and friends, Dior reflected on the journey that brought her here. “They said I couldn’t do it,” she smiled. “But here we are — and this is only the beginning.”
